Polishing Process

Burnished Concrete is designed for large area flooring surfaces. It looks similar to Polished Concrete, but because it does not go through all the final stages of resin polishing that Polished Concrete does it does not have the beautiful sheen and lustre of Polished Concrete. However, it was designed as a different solution.

There are 2 different systems to do a Burnished Concrete floor.

•  Lithium Finish
• Combo Seal

Lithium Finish

For a Lithium finish to work your floor must already be a smooth, power-floated finish.

The process is as follows;

• Wash with auto scrubber and degreaser.
• Apply 1st coat of Lithium densifier.
• Apply 2nd coat Lithium densifier.
• Allow to cure overnight.
• Burnish with a high speed (3000 RPM) burnisher.

This seals the concrete (although not 100% waterproof) and provides dust suppression for years to come.

Combo Seal

This is suitable for where a waterproof seal is required, or the surface of your floor is not good enough for a Lithium Finish.

The process is as follows;

• Do a 3-stage grind on the floor with diamond bits to expose the aggregate.
• Wash the floor and densify.
• Apply 1st coat Combo.
• Apply 2nd coat combo.
• Burnish with high-speed burnisher (3000 RPM)

Using a high-speed burnisher allows the waxes and resins in the Combo to melt and fuse into the floor. This finish is now fused into the floor. To maintain the gloss finish all that is required is a simple polishing machine and a burnishing pad.
